Since when is San Francisco hot at night??
So, I can't sleep, and instead, I'm trying to think of things to do with my brother when he gets here next week (not this coming week, but the week after).
Here is what I have so far:
Things to do with Steven:
The Zoo (duh.)
Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park
Special "free" double feature at the Daly City movie theatre (Don't ask.)
Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley
The Castro (Because he will wet himself laughing.)
Fisherman's Wharf
The Haight (Although I'm not sure. Patchouli smell makes me want to boot.)
Full Drive Through of the City (w/ Laura)
Japantown and Chinatown (maybe Chinatown, Definitely Japantown)
Outer Sunset Beach
Cable Car Ride
Over the Bridge to Saulsalito
Santa Cruz (on the weekend w/ Laura)
Oh, and I have to get him to at least try sushi. The dumbass.
Any of you kids have other suggestions?
OH, AND I'M GOING TO MY FIRST A'S GAME TOMORROW NIGHT!
WHEEEEEEE.

What about Alcatraz (though you need to get tix well in advance - I've missed out when visiting SF twice because they were sold out for the entire week)?

I agree with Mia, you have to take Steven to Alacatraz. Very interesting and a bit spooky.

Oh my, I heard about the heat in SF over the weekend. It sonded as misserable there is it was up here a bit north.
So, 'Must Does' for San francisco Virgins:
Hit Chinatown early in the morning when the shops are getting set up. you can wanter around 'til lunch time and then hit a Dim Sum place (YUM) For non adventurous types: The Golden Dragon. For a feel of 'old world'China Hang Ah Tea Room. If you REALLy want to be adventurous try Gold Mountain. (one of my books says about this plac "if it looks like chien feet, it probably is). There is also Pearl City.
Alright, after lunch wander through Ross Ally and hit the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory then turn up Wavery Place. It's China town at its best/worse. If you can make it up the stairs go inside the Tin hou Temple. Exit the area by going north on Grant Avenue - stop at the corner of Columbus and Broadway - There is the columbus tower and th eTransAmerican Pyramid practically right next to each other - it's simple San Francisco in all her diverse glory.
If you continue up Columbus you'll hit North Beach. While there stop at Mollnarl's Deli grab a pepper salami sandwich with all the trimmings. ;) Have lunch at Washington Square Park and then top it all off by picking up fresh bread at Liguria bakery.
Oh yeah - at let him try the self-cleaning French toilets at least once! ;) Other stops along Grant Ave: Quantity Postcards and you MUST have espresso - try Caffe Trieste.
Then right before sunset head down Grant (between chestnut and Francisco) and look for a staircase. It leads up to Jack Early Park.
Also: the Levi's Factory Museum, Filbert Stree Steps, Julius'Castle.
If you MUST do the Warf (no sure if you want to)
Don't miss: The maritime Museum, the Aquatic Park, the Maritime National Historical Park, the old Eagle Cafe, Lu's Pier 47, Museum of the City of San Francisco, and the Buena Vista Cafe while you are there.
And more lists: Walk the Golden Gate Bridge, Cocktails at sunset at the Cliff House, Beach Blanket Babylon, Drive Highway 1, Wine Tasting (Heh - that's a whole NOTHER list I can give you if you want to visit up here)
and then the extremes: Steepest streets, filbert between Hyde and Leavenworth and Hill at Twentyu-Second; cooked streets, Lombard Street and Macondray Lane, and Vermont Street; High points, Twin Peaks, Twentieth and Church Streets, Tank Hill (Stanyan Street, left at Belgrave park) Nineteenth and Texas, and of course the Marin Headlands.
If you want to do some clubs etc I can give you another list - but I've probably taken up enough of your blog space! Ooooh so much fun! I would love to be your tour guide for the week!
