I have stooped to a new low.

Potato chip crumbs.
I ate them off my bed.

They are just tooo goood and tooooo precious to resist.

It's a sickness, really.

But you have to try them.

Back to the grind...

After a wonderful and relaxing weekend, I sit here in class learning about "Family Nursing" which is basically like listening to a lecture out of the 50s. Sometimes it's all so backwards. And I took a waste of an exam this morning that only took about 15 minutes. HELLO. IT WAS A MIDTERM!

At least we get to do our own throat cultures today.

Loody is here and we are having a wonderful time and I don't want her to leave ever again.

Bowling on Saturday. Dinner with friends last night. Cuban yummies (also on Saturday).
Oooo. And I bought 5 CDs.

1. Laura Nyro - Eli and the 13th Confession (again) -- I lost this and couldn't live without it.
2. Elvis Costello - 2 Disc Very Best of Set
3. Rickie Lee Jones - Self Titled
4. Bay Area Funk '67-'79

And not a lot of class stuff due this week.

Stories from the trenches to come.

Loody's comin' - hide your heart girl.

I am so excited. The light is shining upon me. The rains have dried. And the fog.... well, the fog is still here.

I actually like the fog, it just makes me feel sleepy and cozy.

On another note, a sterile fiasco ensued at clinic today when I had to do a dressing change on a central line on a patient who was neutropenic (low White Blood Cells so really susceptible to infection).

I went through 6 PAIRS OF STERILE GLOVES because I kept touching not sterile things (my watch, by accident -- the glove package on the bed that I was trying to get out of my way -- my watch again -- the table -- the nonsterile part of the glove with the sterile part). Blah Blah Blah Blah.

It was horrifying.

I felt like a total moron because I have never made the same mistake OVER AND OVER again quite like that before. Not to mention that I was wearing a surgical mask and was sweating out my nose and upper lip like a damn monkey. Luckily the nurse was wonderful and just kept saying, "breathe...and get another pair of gloves."

It's weird, because we practice in class, but it's nothing AT ALL like really being there. Believe me, a plastic penis is no match for a real thing attached to a real person.

Most of all it just made me realize how much retraining of my brain I have to do.
Everything i touch is DIRRRRRRTyYYYYYYY.

Gotta wash my hands.
